The University of Nicosia invites applications for the role of Librarian for our upcoming Athens campus. This role is instrumental in delivering high-quality library services to students, faculty, and staff, while promoting academic success and fostering information literacy within the university community.


*Subject to meeting all regulatory and legal requirements in Cyprus and Greece.


Key Responsibilities:


Library Services & User Support

  • Deliver in-person library services and assist users with understanding library systems and resources.
  • Provide guidance on library use, circulation procedures, and access to both digital and physical collections.
  • Conduct library orientation sessions and user training workshops.

Library Administration & Development

  • Collaborate with the Director of Libraries at the main campus in Nicosia to ensure quality and consistency of services.
  • Maintain and update library policies, informational materials, and operational procedures.
  • Liaise with other departments for library-related needs, including resource purchase requests.

Cataloguing & Resource Management

  • Create and maintain bibliographic records in the library management system, using international cataloguing and classification standards.
  • Coordinate circulation services with internal and external libraries.

Communication & Outreach

  • Develop and manage content for the library's social media platforms and website.
  • Support the development, analysis, and improvement of user satisfaction surveys.

Team Support & Special Projects

  • Assist in the training of new library staff as needed.
  • Participate in library-related initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Director of Libraries.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or a related field is required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in a university library setting is considered an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Familiarity with integrated library systems, cataloguing standards, and procedures.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Competence in user education and digital outreach.
  • Fluency in both Greek and English.
