The University of Nicosia invites applications for the position of Librarian within the University of Nicosia Library. This role is central to the ongoing development and management of the library’s collections, ensuring alignment with the university’s teaching, learning, and research priorities. The Librarian will also deliver high-quality library services to students, faculty, and staff, promote academic success, and foster information literacy within the university community.


Key Responsibilities:


Collection Development

  • Participate in the selection, acquisition, and processing of library materials to ensure the collection effectively supports the institution’s teaching, learning, and research priorities.

Library Services & User Support

  • Deliver in-person library services and assist users in navigating library systems and resources.
  • Provide guidance on library use, policies and procedures, and support access to both digital and physical collections.
  • Conduct library orientation sessions and user training workshops.

Library Administration & Development

  • Collaborate with the Director of Libraries, senior staff, and sublibraries to maintain high-quality and consistent library services across all locations.
  • Maintain and update library policies, informational materials, and operational procedures.

Cataloguing & Resource Management

  • Create and maintain bibliographic records in the library management system, using international cataloguing and classification standards.

Team Support & Special Projects

  • Assist in the training of new library staff as needed.
  • Participate in library-related initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Director of Libraries.


Qualifications:


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or a related field is required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in a university library setting is considered an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Familiarity with integrated library systems, cataloguing standards, and procedures.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Competence in user education and digital outreach.
  • Fluency in both Greek and English.
