The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is organizing the 3rd cycle of the campaign “UNIC Mental Health Screening Days 2025” which will take place in March – May 2025.
The campaign will be conducted under the management and supervision of Dr. Maria Koushiou, Dr. Nuno Ferreira, and Dr. Marios Adonis (organizing committee) and has been approved by the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee.
The organizing committee of the campaign is seeking to recruit a part-time Research Assistant (RA) who will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the campaign.
The campaign will focus on examining the levels of depression, anxiety, distress, suicidality and eating disorders among university students. Moreover, the general aims of the campaign are to:
1. provide mental health screenings; identify students with mental health difficulties from early on and provide support
2. educate the academic community on mental health and encourage an open conversation about mental health problems
3. promote mental health among university students and help build a stronger, more resilient academic community
4. join the university management’s efforts to monitor mental health wellness among students and develop programs and policies to support students effectively.
Duties:
- Material preparation (e.g. awareness raising material, questionnaires, etc. that will be distributed/used for the purposes of the campaign)
- Campaign promotion (e.g., through email correspondence)
- Participant recruitment (e.g. through class visits, etc.)
- Data collection
- Data entry and analysis (using the SPSS)
- Organization and management of data and other research material
- Report writing
- Communication and coordination with other volunteers and the organizing committee of the campaign
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Psychology or higher
- Excellent skills in written and verbal communication (in Greek and English)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Previous research experience (in statistical analysis software such as SPSS; ability to conduct literature reviews and write reports/summaries; experience with data collection methods, questionnaire scoring and interpretation, etc.)
- Strong work ethic skills
The candidate selected will be expected to work for 10-12 hours (maximum) per week.
