Part Time Faculty in Oil & Gas Engineering

The Department of Engineering of the University of Nicosia invites applications for 3 part-time faculty positions in the field of Hydrocarbons Exploration and Production, with a specialty in the following or related areas: Geomechanics, Geophysics, Formation Evaluation, Petroleum Geology and Production. The positions are for the Spring 2024 semester and will be renewed upon satisfactory performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in Petroleum Engineering, or Mineral Recourses Engineering, or Geology, or Geophysics, or Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and, preferably, a good publications record in a relevant research area. The candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and research excellence. Since the language of instruction is English, the candidates must be fluent in English. More specifically, the required qualifications are:

• A PhD in Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related field as stated above;
• Evidence of effective teaching in English;
• Autonomy in developing and organizing the material to support students’ learning.

The following qualifications are highly desired and will be considered to the advantage of a candidate:

• Undergraduate and Graduate level teaching experience;
• Professional experience in the same field;
• Strong evidence of potential for scholarly research.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with or without computer simulation sessions. Some administrative work might be required.
