The University of Nicosia invites applications for the position of IT Systems Administrator / Senior IT Support Officer at the UNIC Athens Campus. This role combines daily end-user support with hands-on systems administration responsibilities, supporting faculty, staff, students, classrooms, and offices, while assisting with core infrastructure and IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students for hardware, software, printing, connectivity, classroom technology, and standard business applications.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot end-user devices, peripherals, and software.
- Support Microsoft 365 administration, including Teams, email, MFA, user accounts, licensing, and access-related issues.
- Assist with Active Directory administration, including user accounts, group policies, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
- Install, configure, and support Windows Server environments and assist with server patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Support NAS/storage platforms, backup procedures, and basic disaster recovery checks.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting for wired and wireless connectivity, including VLAN assignments, IP addressing, and switch port checks.
- Coordinate with the central IT and Network Teams for escalations, infrastructure changes, and service incidents.
- Maintain documentation for systems, devices, procedures, and support requests.
- Contribute to improving IT procedures, operational standards, and user support quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar technical role.
- Good knowledge of Windows desktop and Windows Server environments.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration.
- Familiarity with networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switches, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.
- Fluency in Greek and English, both written and spoken.
Preferred / Advantageous Skills
- Experience with Hyper-V, VMware, or server virtualization technologies.
- Experience with NAS/storage solutions such as QNAP or Synology.
- Familiarity with Fortinet firewalls or Juniper/Mist environments.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, CCNA, Fortinet NSE, JNCIA, or ITIL.
